Spectacular Fall 2023 Mushroom Forays ... Happy Halloween!
Our Fall 2023 mushroom forays in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest have been spectacular, yielding Golden Chanterelles, Lobsters, King Boletes, Admirable Boletes, Fat Jacks, Slipper Jacks, Cauliflower Mushrooms, Hedgehogs, Shaggy Mane, Shaggy Parasols, Angel Wings, Oysters, Chicken of the Woods, Pig's Ears, and Fluted Black Elfin Saddle, among many others.
Lots of interesting shrooms from the first big hunt of Fall 2016!
Our first big hunt of the Fall season took place yesterday in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest (at the 2,300-foot level, north of Mt. St. Helens). My brother Don and I drove the Shroom Mobile (fondly named Jedediah, after the famous explorer) up into the national forest Thursday night and camped.
